Remember the last time we told you about Apple’s app download policy change?
As Apple allowed on device AppStore account management with the 3.0 beta, they experimented with some new policies. When trying to re-download a purchased app on iPhone/ iPod Touch, users started getting a pop-up, asking them to either buy the app again or rather sync with a PC/ Mac directly.
You’ve already purchased this. You can re download it for free on your computer, or tap Buy to buy it again.
That was not a great step of course and was consequently criticized. It seems that they just wanted to see the reaction – which turned out to be negative – and they dropped the idea!
Now, when you try to download an app, you will see same old pop-up telling that you have already purchased it and if you wanted to download the app again or not.
You have already downloaded this app. To download it again for free, Select OK.
It’s definitely a great news for most. AppAdvice has found some evidence which proves that instead of this, Apple has now made some changes in the iTunes 8.2 that authorizes the account on the device to download the apps. For this, you must sync at least one app to your 3.o (GM) iPhone to iTunes with This solution is actually much better than the previous one and is much more convenient as well! Thanks Apple for listening to us. 🙂
